Australian Taxi Fare
|
This iPhone/iPad app calculates the approximate Taxi Fare between two locations in metropolitan areas of all States and
Territories in Australia. It displays a map for each address entered, showing the location of the address.
- This app can be used to work out the distance and directions between two addresses anywhere in the world that is supported by the
underlying technology (same technology as the Maps app).
-
This app can be used to display the address of where you currently are - wherever you are in the world within the localities supported
by the underlying technology (within the limits of your device). You can copy and paste this address in the usual way into an email or
SMS to let others know where you are. They can then paste the address into this app to work out how to get to where you are.
- The functionality above can be used, for example, to obtain the postcode of an address.
- The location button at the top can be used to zoom into your current location or you can enter an address. Some place names eg
Sydney Opera House, Eiffel Tower, Fisherman's Wharf are also recognised.
Tap 'next' on the keyboard or in the second field to enter the destination. Then tap Go on the keyboard.
- On the iPhone/iPod Touch tap the Route button to see the route. It shows automatically on the iPad. The route can be copied and
then pasted into an email or Note or document in the usual way.
- Tap the button at the top right of the Route listing to enter the Maps application which will graphically show the route on a map.
- The Map button toggles between showing the left, the right or both maps side by side - particularly useful for getting a bigger
map of either the source or destination on an iPhone/iPod.
- Peak/Off-peak tariffs and Public Holidays are included. Tolls and booking fees are not included in
the calculation.
- The 50 most-recently used addresses are saved and can be recalled - tap the bookmark at the right of the Start and End address fields. Swipe an address in the list to delete it.
- This Universal app works on iPhone, iPod Touch (where wireless is available) and iPad.
- The latest fares used in calculations are retrieved from a server. The fares are current as follows:
NSW - 19 Nov 2023
VIC - 19 Nov 2023
ACT - 19 Nov 2023
TAS - 19 Nov 2023
SA - 19 Nov 2023
NT - 19 Nov 2023
WA - 19 Nov 2023
Qld - 19 Nov 2023
-
Addresses and routes use the device's language, rather than only English eg if the device's language is French then the addresses and routes are shown in French. The fare can also be calculated when the device's language is other than English.
